A Dallas native, Joe has lived and built his career in the area.  After attending Jesuit College Prep, Joe earned a BBA from SMU in 1981. Shortly after graduating, he began his career as a staff accountant in the audit division with Ernst & Whinney, where he received four promotions within five years.

Joe then furthered his career as Chief Financial Officer for a regional commercial real estate company, was the Director of Central Accounting at Trammell Crow, and later CFO for Trammell Crow Corporate Services; the real estate outsourcing arm of Trammell Crow Company. Joe then joined a technology company as CFO and helped to grow sales from $3.1MM to over $48MM.

In 1994, Joe earned his MBA from SMU. All along the way, he prepared tax returns for business associates, friends and family. In 2003, Joe decided to implement a business plan he had developed back at SMU, and open a CPA firm. After preparing 95 returns in the inaugural year, Joe has seen his practice grow to the preparation of 1,000s of returns per year. This steady, dynamic growth has been fueled by true care and concern for his clients and the referrals that such treatment ensures.

Joe sits on the board of the Spirit of a Hero Foundation and is a member of the Frisco Sunrise Rotary. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family & friends and cheering on the Texas Rangers, Dallas Mavs and Dallas Cowboys.

Pam joined Joe C Hockaday CPA in 2014, excited to be able to make a difference in the lives and businesses of our clientele. She likes to use her well-rounded background and knowledge to help clients deal with a wide variety of business issues.

Pam has a true understanding of small business challenges and is a trusted advocate for her clients.  She loves the one-to-one connection that comes with working directly with her clients.

Pam earned her BBA from East Texas State University in 1995 and passed the CPA exam in 1996.  She has lived in the Dallas area ever since.  Pam started her career as a sales tax auditor for the State of Texas which exposed her to many types of industries and businesses. She went on to be the Controller for a technology company in Richardson.  She then spent 11 years as a Controller and Financial Accounting and Reporting Manager for a community bank here in the north Texas area where she was also responsible for tax accounting. Over those years, she prepared tax returns for friends and family with personal and small business tax needs.  Her exposure to payroll and HR needs, ownership challenges, software conversions and federal tax filing needs for a large array of industries make her a great asset when dealing with tough questions and scenarios that are presented.

When not working at the firm, Pam joins her husband, Corey, on his podcast encouraging strong marriages. She loves to sing at church as well as camp and travel with Corey and their daughter & son.

Kathy Robbins graduated from Texas Tech University with a double major in Accounting & Finance. Recruited by Grant Thornton to begin her career in Dallas, she worked closely with many medium-sized businesses and bank holding companies of the time. 

She even contracted with the Resolution Trust Corporation with tasks relating to the accounting and valuation of bank assets. This experience resulted in her being recruited by Price Waterhouse to co-senior the audit of the Special Asset Bank (managed by NCNB) that comprised of vast assets held/owned by the government resulting from the many bank failures in the 1980’s.  These were managed and maintained for the best disposition and resolution possible.  It required much analytical and detailed work to assess the risks (legal, environmental and others) and assess valuation of the asset categories for fair reporting purposes.  This background led her to briefly serve as an audit manager at Bank of Oklahoma where she met her husband.  There she was the expert over the mortgage corporation as mortgage servicing is another specialization of hers.  Missing the variety of public accounting, Kathy transferred to Deloitte Touche in Oklahoma where she became an audit manager over several clients including international and domestic corporations, and bank/credit union holding companies and small businesses.

Kathy left public accounting to raise her family since family is extremely important to her.  She served in leadership of several community organizations; always accepting the positions no one else wanted.    Served by bookkeeping for PTA’s and others, as well as substitute taught for the special education department of her neighborhood schools; where many other new skills and traits were developed.  Kathy believes God uses all our experiences to mold us into the kind of person he wants us to become, and she gave him many opportunities to do so.

Preparing to pay for college tuition, Kathy contracted for Joe C Hockaday, CPA for five years, and then joined the firm full-time. Her years of experience has made her a CPA with a very big heart that treats every client differently to best serve their needs.  Her bookkeeping clients slowly become like family, and she invests dedication and commitment.  Of all her jobs and volunteer hats, which she has held over the years; tax preparation is high on the list as it provides a sense of serving others.  Taxation and tax laws are not everyone’s strength, nor is it the job that everyone wants to do.  However, Kathy works towards being the best that she possibly can every day. She continues learning new skills every year to do it better.  The reward is knowing she helped each client take advantage of every deduction the government allows, fairly and respectfully.

Deina serves as our Account and Operations Director. She is committed to delivering excellent customer service and helping each of our customers through the preparation process. As a previous business owner in the restaurant industry, as well as in promotions, she has a great knowledge of the business owner and operators’ needs in day to day activities, as well as in their annual reporting requirements. Not only has this has helped her in designing systems within the firm to communicate to our clients, but also in the ease to fit within their schedules.

Prior to joining the firm, Deina owned and operated Lochrann’s Irish Pub and Eatery in Frisco, where she was also one of the Firm’s clients. It was here where she fine-tuned her experience with QuickBooks, payroll and taxes.  In addition to owning a few smaller businesses, Deina has also worked for 3Headed Monster, Dallas as well as Young & Rubicam Advertising, Chicago as an Account Director.  She worked with several fortune 500 companies, including Sears’ The Great Indoors where her team was awarded the Cleo award in Direct Marketing.  

Deina has professional affiliations with several Chambers of Commerce, sat on the Board of Directors for the Frisco Convention & Visitor’s Bureau, Event Chair for the Frisco Family Services Gala, as well as created several fundraising events for Frisco Cares, including their annual Paddy Dash and Golf Tournament.

Deina holds a BS in Business and Communications with a minor in French from Indiana University, Bloomington. In her spare time, she loves spending time with her two kids, Devin and Braden, and watching them at their sporting events.  They also have a sweet Great Pyrenees, Knox.

Lisa handles all payroll needs for our clients.  She began her accounting career at the San Diego Athletic Club, in the A/R department, then moved on to the Payroll Department for Chart House Enterprises.

She got her start in multi-state payroll processing with Chart House Restaurants, Luther’s BBQ, Islands Restaurants, and Paradise Bakery when they were headquartered in Solana Beach, CA.  After moving to Texas, she was able to experience the joys of business ownership, assisting her husband with accounting and payroll needs for a franchise with multiple locations.

She also handles all aspects of franchise taxes, including filing returns, processing tax payments, and reinstating and terminating entities with the Texas State Comptroller.

Originally from St. Joseph, MO, she and her family moved to San Diego when her mom, a Registered Nurse, joined the US Navy as a Lieutenant.  Lisa finished high school there, and then attended San Diego Mesa College. She is currently pursuing Certification as a Payroll Professional. 

When possible, Lisa likes to get out on the tennis court or golf course with her family.

Tara Murphy was born in Dallas, TX, grew up in Irving, TX, and moved to the rapidly growing city of Frisco in 2015.

Originally wanting to pursue a career in the Fine Arts, she changed her interest to Accounting after her first child in 1997. Heading the Accounting department at a small custom furniture company, she was introduced to the accounting software QuickBooks and received a certification as a Certified Public Bookkeeper.

With the growth of her family, she decided to become the CEO of “The Murphy Clan”.  Tara went further with her certification and decided to start her own business working for CPA firms and small businesses as an independent bookkeeper. 

In 2016 she became a full-time employee of Joe Hockaday CPA.  At the firm she spreads her knowledge of bookkeeping and QuickBooks through training classes for clients and managing the books for a variety of businesses. During tax season she loves to dive into all tax returns and help clients look for that extra deduction.

When she is not behind a computer, she enjoys time with her family, husband, and her four wonderful children.

Teresa serves as a Client Liaison and brings a varied business background to the Joe Hockaday team. She is responsible for collections, A/R, billing and assisting the staff accountants with gathering all tax-relate documents from clients. 

Her years spent at AmeriSource in packaging sales lead her to BeautiControl as buyer for several years. Desiring a change, she accepted the challenge to assist in the startup of a Diverse Staffing branch office and served as the Branch Manager/Business Development Officer.

Although she hails from NYC as a first generation born American to Sicilian parents, she has lived in the Dallas area for over three decades. She is one of eleven children and growing up in a large family birthed her love for cooking and taking care of people. She has two adult daughters that are the loves of her life and her happy place is in any kitchen where she can share her love for cooking with family and friends.

Stephanie serves as one of our Staff Accountants. Since joining the firm full time in 2018 her focus has been on bookkeeping, individual and business tax returns as well as estate and trust returns. She is committed to making sure the clients are comfortable and knowledgeable with tax process and ensures they are taken care of each step of the tax process.

Stephanie holds a degree in Early Childhood and Business with focus on Accounting. Stephanie has background in accounting, insurance claims and teaching. Working in those industries has strengthened her customer services skills as well as enhancing her passion for number and helping people. Prior to joining the firm Stephanie spent 10 years working for a private preschool in Frisco, the first five years as a teacher and the last five years as their financial comptroller.

Stephanie and her husband have a blended family with a young step son, adult daughter, son in law and grandson. She is passionate about spending time with her family as well as devoting time to service projects in the community.

Stephanie is an active member of the Frisco Women’s League, and a member of the Autism society. For the last five years Stephanie has coached her special needs cheer team in Frisco.

Connor Hockaday

Connor was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, and moved to Frisco, Texas in 1999. He attended Jesuit College Preparatory School, graduating in 2006. A lifelong car enthusiast, Connor began his career in the automotive industry during college in 2007.

After earning a degree in Business Management & Entrepreneurship from The University of North Texas in 2013, he continued his career in this field. He was a Service Advisor with BMW for several years, and then branched out to become a skilled Collision Advisor.

Seeking to expand his breadth of knowledge about finance and successful small businesses practices, Connor joined the rapidly expanding Joe C. Hockaday, CPA firm in 2018 as a Staff Accountant. He works hard to assure that his clients’ needs are met, and is very proud to be part of such a great team of professionals. Helping clients with bookkeeping and tax returns has become a true passion of Connor’s, and he hopes to continue working at this truly excellent practice for years to come.

When he is not working, Connor enjoys spending time with his wife Ashlyn, their wonderful son Finn, and Always ready for adventure, Connor loves road trips, going boating on one of the beautiful area lakes, or taking his Jeep wherever it will go!

Lindsay serves as a staff accountant, helping to prepare tax returns and assisting in bookkeeping. Lindsay earned a B.S. from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2009. She worked as an Account Relations Representative for Canon where she supported senior management and sales through creating and analyzing profit analysis reports to identify successful marketing campaigns.  She also worked as an Account Executive for CAE SimuFlite. During her time with SimuFlite, Lindsay focused on customer satisfaction and assisted the accounting department with analyzing aging receivables reports to reduce uncollectible accounts. Lindsay’s experience at SimuFlite and discovery of her passion for finance led her to decide to pursue a career in the accounting field.

Katy works as our Administrative Assistant. She is here to aid in communication between the client and our firm; ensuring your neighborhood CPA is always a phone call away. Katy has specialized in customer service for the past nine years.

Prior to working with us, she opened restaurants for an Arkansas based company called Tacos4Life. There she trained over 1000 people in customer service and opened 10 restaurants, including the first in Texas, right here in Frisco!

She is currently finishing her senior year of her Business Administration degree at the University of Arkansas.
